The Spencer County Tourism Enhancement Grant is designed to assist organizations, businesses, events, and tourism-related entities with special projects, events, activities, marketing, and other initiatives that will encourage visitation and tourism in Spencer County. In 2022, the Visitors Bureau awarded $50,000 to 10 local businesses and organizations.
Six counties in Southern Indiana are working together to better understand the supply and demand of childcare within the region. The Southern Indiana Gateway (SIG) region, comprised of Crawford, Dubois, Orange, Perry, Pike, and Spencer counties, earned its official designation as a 21st Century Talent Region in June 2021. A state initiative, the 21st Century Talent Regions program encourages self-defined geographic regions to build and implement a plan to increase educational attainment, raise household income, and grow population.
Southern Indiana (August 11, 2022) – Nearly 400 new homes are being planned across southwest Indiana, to address the gap in quality workforce housing. The Indiana First region, recognizing a critical need for additional housing in all counties throughout the area, will focus much of its READI grant award on the “Talent’s Hometown” program. This initiative will support multiple public infrastructure projects in each county, opening additional development opportunities for residential builders.
