In the heart of Mariah Hill, Indiana, a group of locals is bringing baseball back to its roots. Meet the Mariah Hill Yanks — a vintage baseball team cooked up by a crew of guys with a shared vision, during the quiet days of the COVID-19 pandemic. While many were stuck indoors, a couple of guys ventured out to French Lick, where they began watching vintage baseball. Inspired by the old-school energy and camaraderie, they thought; “Why not in Mariah Hill?”
What started as a simple idea, quickly turned into a hometown treasure. The Mariah Hill Yanks are more than just a team — they’re a living tribute to 19th-century baseball. With no helmets, no mitts, and classic rules in play. Every game is a step, back in time. The players even ditch their real names on the field, going only by nicknames to keep the vintage spirit alive.

What makes the Yanks truly special, is their bond with the town. Every player lives right in Mariah Hill, creating a team that feels more like family. Fans don’t just watch — they connect with a piece of local history.
Mark your calendars for their upcoming matchups: September 13 and 14 in French Lick, and a home event on September 27, against the Indianapolis Blues and the Bluegrass Barons, of Lexington, Kentucky If you’re looking for community, tradition, and a good old-fashioned ball game, the Mariah Hill Yanks are swinging for the heart.
